Available Positions
Automotive Technician
Reports to: Service Advisor
Supervisor: Foreman
Job Description: The technician investigates customer concerns, provides recommendations to the service advisor, and completes repairs and maintenance as directed by the foreman. It is a back of house position that will only occasionally interact directly with clients.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Inspecting customer vehicles to address stated concerns
- Creating vehicle inspection reports using shop software
- Perform basic to advanced vehicle diagnostics
- Advise service advisors on necessary repairs
- Communicate regularly with shop foreman to help manage client expectations
- Make recommendations based on current and future vehicle needs
- Complete a full range of vehicle repairs, maintenance and state inspections.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of automotive systems(ASE certifications preferred)
- New York State Inspectors license
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for long periods and lifting over 50 pounds
- Have an assortment of personal tools
Expectations
- Shift is Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 5:30PM with an hour for lunch(unpaid) with a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon(paid).
- Hours may be adjusted on a case by case basis.
- Work should be completed in a safe and timely manner, and performed to meet industry standards for acceptable repair.
- Technician must provide basic hand and power tools. Communal tools must be used properly and returned to an appropriate state for use by the next technician.
- Uniforms are provided by the company. Technician is required to provide and wear safety toe shoes.
- Personal work station is to be cleaned and maintained by the technician.
- Technician is expected to maintain a standard of ethical conduct including fair dealing and respect for customers and co-workers, individual responsibility and accountability, and compliance with all industry laws, regulations and company policies.
Paid & Unpaid Time Off
- New employees start with 42.5 hours of vacation time for the first year, expanding to 85 hours after 1 year of service. All vacation time is subject to approval by management and is given to employees on a first come, first serve basis. Any unused vacation time can be carried over to the following year.
- All employees are given 42.5 hours of sick and safe leave at the begging of the calendar year. Management may never retaliate against an employee for use of sick time.
- Additional time off can be used when adequate notice is provided. Such time off would be unpaid.
- Unexcused absence may be ground for disciplinary action, including potential termination.
- The shop is closed for 7 paid holidays a year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Weekend(Thursday and Friday) and Christmas Day. An 8th floater holiday is given annually and is chosen by employees at the beginning of the year.
Training & Certification
- Virtual and classroom training is available for all technicians through our various vendors and partners.
- Any training attended outside business hours will be paid and the technician will be given the option of taking unpaid time off for an equivalent period of time.
- NYS Inspectors license required for any technician performing inspections. MVAC certification required for any technician performing Air Condition services requiring the use of r134a and r1234yf equipment. Expenses associated with obtaining and maintaining certifications will be paid for by the company.
- ASE certifications are encouraged and first-time testing will be paid for by the company. If the test is not passed, subsequent testing is to be paid for by the technician. When the test is passed, the company will reimburse the technician for the final test.
Service Advisor
Reports to: Office Manager
Job Description: The Service Advisor is the coordinator of the customer experience. They serve as a liaison between the clients and the foreman. Their job is to council clients on the needs of their vehicles in a way that promotes the clients’ best interests, while maintaining shop policies. It is a front of house position which is used to market our brand.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Create estimates based on the findings of the vehicle technicians
- Sell work to clients as well as advise on future work which may be necessary
- Order parts necessary to make repairs
- Communicate regularly with shop foreman to help manage client expectations
- Check out clients and review work which has been performed
- Schedule appointments for clients
- Answer phones and greet people at the counter
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of automotive experience in any capacity
- 2 years of customer service experience (preferred)
- Basic computer and word processing skills
- Experience with any automotive POS preferred
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily activities.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Must be friendly, empathetic and honest
