FAQs

Do I need an appointment for service?

We do work by appointment and offer several different ways to schedule. You can call 585-271-5179, text 585-440-3053 or use our online scheduler. Our availability will vary, but we can usually get most vehicles in within a few days.

Are walk-in or same day appointments available?

We cannot guarantee same day appointments, however we do our best to accommodate whenever possible. If you are in need of same day service, the best thing to do is call 585-271-5179 and discuss with one of our office staff.

What do I do if I have a breakdown or emergency?

Despite our best efforts and planning, there will always be some issues that are unexpected or sudden. When this happens, we do everything that we can to provide you with swift service to get you back on the road. To that end, we leave some time in our schedule for breakdowns and emergencies. For the most part this time is reserved on a first come, first serve basis. The best thing you can do if you find yourself in a situation like this is to call us. We will discuss your options and try to provide some solution, even if we can’t promise a repair to be made right away. If the emergency occurs outside of our normal business hours, you are welcome to have it towed to our location and we will discuss it with you as soon as possible.

Can I wait with my vehicle while it is in for service?

We do set aside appointment times every day for customers who would like to wait with their vehicles. You are welcome to wait on-site or at any of the nearby coffee shops and diners. We do ask that you let us know of your intention to wait at the time that you schedule so we can be prepared and reduce your wait time.

How long does a repair usually take?

Repair time will vary based on the services being performed. For simple services like oil changes and state inspections we generally tell people to expect about an hour to an hour and a half. That gives us the time to thoroughly inspect the vehicle, perform a road test and handle all of the associated paper work. We do our best to set realistic expectations for more complicated services, but usually recommend the vehicle be left with us so work can be properly performed. Our goal is always to get vehicles checked quickly and complete repairs in the same day.

Do you provide a shuttle service or loaner vehicle?

At this time we do not provide any temporary transportation for customers.

What if I am unable to drop off or pick up my vehicle during business hours.

We have options for that! For early or overnight drop offs just leave the vehicle in our lot and put the keys in our drop box. Our drop box is a red mail slot in our overhead shop door just to the right of our main office. If you cannot pick up the vehicle before we close, we can take payment over the phone or by text and make arrangements to leave the vehicle out for you to pick up at your convenience.

What happens after I drop my car off? Will I be given an estimate for work that is needed?

We start by making sure we have a clear understanding of your concerns. From there we turn things over to our technicians. A technician will perform a road test when appropriate and then begin looking the vehicle over. Besides looking into your concerns, we will perform a courtesy inspection. This is a visual check of things like fluid levels, lights and tire pressures. Any issues we see are compiled into a digital report which will include pictures, short videos, technician notes and recommendations. An advisor then build an estimate for any recommended services.

Once this process is completed you will receive a text message from us with a link to your vehicle’s report. We allow you a few minutes to look it over so you are aware of what we will discuss. We then follow up with a phone call to discuss all your repair options, what needs to be done now and what are things that can wait. At that time we will go over the expected costs of repairs and the time frame expected for their completion.

Do you charge for diagnostics?

In most cases there is a charge for diagnostics. The charge is dependent on the amount of time needed to investigate a concern and should be discussed with you at the time the vehicle is dropped off. For advanced, electrical or computer diagnostics we ask for approval for up to an hour of testing before we begin. This allows us the flexibility to perform any tests we deeply appropriate without having to stop every few minutes to touch base with you. We will never exceed that first hour without first having a conversation with you.

What happens if additional repairs are needed during the process?

We make every effort to make sure our estimates are accurate, but from time to time there will be issues that cannot be foreseen. When this happens we will reach out to you to discuss what options you have before we proceed. Please note that if you are unavailable and we cannot get further approval this may result in delays in the completion of work.

Can I bring my own parts for you to install?

As a matter of policy, we do not install customer provided parts. All work that we do must maintain our standards of quality, and that simply connect be guaranteed with a part that we did not source. All repairs are sold as a package including parts and labor. We do make exceptions for tires and wheels. If you would like to order tires online for us to install, we can help with that. You may even have the tires shipped directly to us in order to make the experience easier.

What kind of warranty do you provide?

Unless otherwise stated, all repairs include a 2 year, 24k mile warranty on parts and labor.

Do you work with insurance or third party warranty companies?

We will work on your behalf with any insurance or third party warranty. The vehicle will be checked out and an estimate prepared as we would for any other customer. Please note that working with a third party can delay repairs as we need to get approval before work can proceed. They do not always cover repairs in full, so you may be responsible for any difference between what is charged and what is paid. That said, our priority is still on you and your vehicle – we want to make sure you get the best care possible. We make sure to remain in contact with you and discuss the recommended repairs throughout the process.

Do you perform vehicle inspections?

We are a licensed NYS Inspection facility and can perform state inspections on any vehicle which we are qualified to service(Domestic and Asian vehicles, Volkswagen and Volvo). For most vehicles the inspection is $21 – pass or fail.

Besides state inspections, we also offer a comprehensive vehicle inspection that we perform as requested. It is often used as a pre-purchase check, a check-over for people preparing for a trip, or simply to help determine whether a vehicle is worth repairing. It is our most comprehensive check. It costs $155 and we will look at all the major systems(brakes, steering, suspension, exhaust, cooling, etc). It does not include any computer or AC diagnosis.
